Seriously. Food is more than just sustenance or a means to an end. Food, in every sense of the word, is love. Love for your body, your mind, your overall health. It’s more than buying a pre-made meal and heating it up or fast food delivery. It’s the sensual and primal centre for our very existence.
Food is at the heart of every major holiday or life event. It is how we celebrate, soothe, comfort and bolster ourselves – and those we love – and it is the most powerful of medicines. Adding more plants to your plate will add vitality to your life and improve your overall sense of well-being. But rather than talk about it, let’s just get into some good food.
Pictured above are fresh Brussels sprouts with Okanagan grapes (you know the ones, black-purple with exceptionally deep flavour) roasted together with sea salt and cracked pepper. Deliciously easy to prepare, this makes a lovely side dish or use as a salad by adding a fresh squeeze of lemon juice and a bit of olive oil. I used this versatile roasted goodness as a topping for my Harvest Squash Soup. (Recipea to come)
